A guide to getting the right computer seems like a really interesting write. The major thing is to know why you are getting the computer and how much power you need. Comparing processors should also be based on how much you know about the processor. My method is if you don't know much about them, go for intel. AMD has its fan base and they are people who know exactly what they want with that processor (maybe overclocking).
About the i-series processors from intel, they are just brand names for their new quad core and six core (i9) line of processors. Hard disk space, RAM memory size (4GB is usually ok especially if you don't do graphics or video editing), screen size, and DVD Drive are things you should look at when seeking to purchase a computer. Often times, we get lost in the world of the processors especially comparing those by different vendors. For example, intel to AMD. Can you provide some insight on this? With the introduction of the 2nd generation intel "i" processors and more processors in the works, what should a potential buyer look for or consider before making a purchase. What metrics should one look for? The advisable least memory size to purchase amongst others.
